Focus On Dark Angel

The stallion Dark Angel (by Acclamation) currently lies fifth in the list of leading sires in Great Britain and Ireland. In all he has had 249 runners, of which 93 have been winners of prize money totalling almost three million pounds.

Dark Angel was a top class two year old, winning four races including the Group 1 Middle Park Stakes over six furlongs at Newmarket. He is the sire of several high class sprinters, notably Battaash, Lethal Force, Mecca’s Angel and Harry’s Angel.

As can be seen from this photo of Dark Angel in his racing days as a two year old, he was strong, precocious and athletic. While many of his progeny take after him and do well as two year olds, others improve with age.

A typical son of Dark Angel: note the strong quarters and shoulders

‘Dark Angel gets horses that are tough, hardy and dependable.’ (trainer George Baker)

‘Dark Angels aren’t necessarily all early types.’ (trainer John Quinn). This one is still leggy and unfurnished.
